This floor lamp looks better in the house than the picture. It gives the lighting of your choice - all 3 lights on is good, but 2 is softer if you're going for mood. The lighting can be direct for reading or indirect. The lamp needs space - we live in a loft so it looks great - its like a sculpture. Go for it.

The lamp is definitely not worth $400 dollars.

I really like the design of this light. However, I was disappointed in the quality. My first delivery came with a defective part. This is a heavy lamp so it was not easy to repackage and have it sent back. Then, when the second lamp was delivered, it too was defective. I kept the second lamp because it was such a hassle to return the first time and I am using it in my home. But, I have to be careful about moving it around otherwise the midsection will come apart from the upper section. If I could get my money back, I would have.
