Lamp looks exactly like the picture, has solid construction, and is nice and heavy. It works perfectly to illuminate the music and the keyboard of my upright piano. I rated it 4/5 for instructions and assembly only because it wasn't easy to find the correct bulbs.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The lamp seems fine in the couple of weeks we've had it. It is sturdy and has a heavy base, which should be ideal for its spot on the piano. We like the switch on the base instead of the cord or the reflector (but that was one of the features I was looking for when I bought it).
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
