I had a request to find a task lamp for my wife to do her fingernails. She's over 50, and needs good light and glasses. This really works for her. I do repair work that requires good light for close inspection. This works great for me too, so I borrow it on those occasions. We've had other lamps, but this one focuses a lot of light where you want it. You don't have to get burned by moving up close to the fixture, because it throws a more focus beam downward. I shopped for lamps and found that some of the nice looking contemporary lamps that cost 3 times as much put out 1/2 as much light as this one. Unlike some lamps, you can pick it up without the base falling off to move it. The adjustments work beautifully and the price is amazing. It looks a little strange perhaps. Who cares!
