Portable Fans Buyer's Guide

Portable fans are the perfect solution for rooms that only need a breeze for part of the year. They are typically small enough to fit on a desk or table and come in many different sizes.

Types

There are two types of portable fans. Desk fans sit on a base and are small enough to fit on a tabletop. Floor fans are taller than desk fans and are often larger. They sit on a pedestal.

Both types are plugged in through a standard outlet and can be placed wherever there is room and an outlet. They are lightweight and easy to move from room to room in climates that do not require year-round air circulation.

Features

Many portable fans can oscillate, which means they rotate from side to side. This allows the fan to cool a wider area of the room than a stationary fan. Oscillating fans may have features that allow the user to set the arc of the fan’s movement.

Multiple speed settings are also available on many portable fans. This allows the user to select a fan speed to best suit their current needs and makes the fan more versatile.

Tilt is another feature of many portable fans. This allows you to position the fan head at different angles to direct the flow of air where you need it most.

Styles

After you have determined which features you want in a portable fan, it ’s time to select a style. There are so many more styles available than the common white plastic fans. With styles ranging from traditional fan shapes to themed animal-inspired designs, you can select a fan that matches your décor and your personality.
