Strobe lights use quick, regular flashes of light that create the illusion of slow or disjointed movement. They are commonly used to intensify a mood or intensity.
The darker a room, the more pronounced the strobe will be. Strobe lights can be used in conjunction with other entertainment effects like moonflowers or disco lights, but the less light interference is presence, the greater the impact of the strobe.
Most commercially sold strobes will be perfectly safe. The interval on these lights is timed to make it safe. However, people with epilepsy have had seizures triggered by flashing strobe lights. Make sure that a strobe is only used for a short period of time and that people have another room or area to go to if they start to feel affected.
First, try to get away from the strobe light. Go to a different room or outside to get away from the light. If that is not possible, try closing only one eye. Closing both eyes or looking at the floor can make the feeling more intense. If you or someone you know thinks you may have had a strobe light induced seizure, seek medical attention immediately.
