We originally bought the espresso with cafe shades...they looked great but did not quite match our decor (were more like black). Returned the espresso with ease! And ordered the satin nickel finish. Matches perfectly with the other hardware of the bathroom. We hung it with the shades pointing down and, for us, it gives off more light. Great product with a reasonable price.
