beautiful but...
The shelves are excellent quality but very difficult to hang. It would have made it so much easier if they had included a paper template to follow. As it happened we were one or two millimeters off in our mesaurements and it's a disaster now. We have to patch the whole wall and begin again, since the shelves can't be hung. This has turned into a major project. For the cost of a piece of paper with printed template, this project could have been a snap.

my installation was easy

The instructions are not all that useful, so here's what I did:

1. I bought a piece of poster board from Walmart--the kind with a very light grid printed on one side.

2. I laid the poster board on the floor.

3. I assembled the entire shelf unit on the poster board with the glass and tightened all the screws. Then I squared it up the poster board.

4. I traced each round wall connector with a pencil and marked the exact point of each set screw on the paper. (That will help align your trapezoid brackets later.)

5. I took the shelf apart and removed it.

6. I marked the vertical and horizontal centers of the shelf unit on the paper by measuring the distances between the circles.

7. I carefully measured the position of the support trapazoids inside the circular wall mounts.

8. Then I removed it and placed the trapezoid bracket at the same measured position on the circles drawn on the poster board. (Remember to keep it oriented correctly and square with your grid lines on the template and aligned with your set screw mark.)

9. I marked the hole positions of the trapezoid pieces inside the drawn circles.

10. I took my poster board template, positioned it on the wall, leveled it, and taped it where I wanted it.

11. I used an awl and pushed through each of the circles' hole points into the wall. That gave me drill points.

12. I removed the template and drilled the holes where the awl marks were.

13. I installed the trapezoid brackets and hung the rest of the hardware.

Total time = Maybe an hour.

I hope this helps. This is a great looking unit.

The instructions were terrible. Hold up the shelf and trace around the mounts? Are you kidding me. Why no template like on the single shelf? If my husband and I weren't extremely handy, the shelf unit would have gone in the trash.

Tracing the decorative mounting covers on a newly painted wall. On top of that, it says to screw in the actual mounts in the middle of what was traced. Well, there isn't an actual middle, becuase while one person is attempting to hold it level, the other person is tracing from one side (so you are close to the left side and at an angle on the right side).

How hard would it be to put in a paper template that is taped to the wall.

The installation took over 2 hours.

Never again.
