Architecture and furniture in early 18th century America was simple in accordance with the bucolic lifestyles. Brass was rarely used during this period because of cost and availability. Instead, other malleable materials such as pewter were used to make candelabra chandeliers. All arms are hand bent for greater accuracy and all metal components are hand finished.
I was shocked when the box arrived with my new fixture and pieces were clanking and rolling around inside. Upon opening, shreaded newspaper spilled out from the inside top. The shreaded newspaper wasn't doing a darn thing to keep the fixture from rattling around. The paper was placed on TOP of a piece of cardboard which sat on top of the fixture. I pulled the "protective" cardboard from the top of the fixture to check for damage and noticed that the contents were randomly thrown in like this merchandise had been returned from another buyer. Paper bags that held fixture pieces were torn open and strewn inside. I think you are getting the picture. The fixture quaility is very poor. For a three hundred dollar light, I was expecting a much nicer piece. It's not worth more than seventy-five dollars. It's beautiful in the picture; but don't waste your money!
