We purchased this control to use as a second (3-way) control for our Gyro fan. What we discovered is that our fan is an older model and has 4 dip swiches (as does the wall control we got with the fan). This wall control has 8 (we are able to use it with a new Concept II we just installed in a bedroom). I would suggest 2 things before purchasing this:
1. Make sure the box in the fan has 8 dip switches. If it has 4, you need the WC210 (according to the folks at Minka Aira, and the success we had once we got the WC210). The WC212 won't work for fans with 4 dip switches.
2. If you plan to install this as a 3-way with another wall control, call Minka Aire for their instructions. There's only one way to wire it so that it functions properly as a 3-way and it wasn't the first or second way we tried.
Overall, though, we love the wall controls. They fit into the existing box unless, like another reviewer mentioned, you have a 50+ year-old house with smaller boxes, but even then it can be jammed in and look MOSTLY normal (there's a slight gap between the wall and plate). And they look so much nicer than mounting the remote to the wall next to an existing switch that you really don't need once the fan's installed.

I recently installed three Minka Aire ceiling fans, and found the hand-held remotes to be a hassle at times... for example, when you walk into a dark room and gotta find the remote to turn on the light! It's so much easier having a wall control that duplicates the functions of the remote. Installing the wall controls was super easy. Highly recommended.

Straight forward installation and works fine. Works fine with remote. This control unit fills most of switch box, and was a tight fit in the wall box in our 55 yr. old residence.
