This light it much bigger than you'd expect. Even with the measurements they give you, seeing it person is different. It's massive.

Well made and oh so perfect for our dining room. Hand made silk shades with Chinese characters in the weave. The light is soft and the overall affect is warming. Everyone that sees it just loves it! The outer shades make a shadow on the inner shade that diminishes the overall look ever so slightly. Not enough for me to not love it though!

Best part...when the light is on in my foyer, you can see the designs on the shades from outside! It is gorgeous, unique, classy, and I love it. I've had so many compliments from neighbors walking by and seeing it in the window. It's big so really pay attention to the dimensions. Perfect for a foyer. I followed the suggestion of a reviewing and put 40 watt bulbs in the outer, smaller shades and put the 60 in the center because the center is a little less bright due to the double shade. Shipped right away. No troubles. Well worth the price. Love it.

Can you see the light bulbs on this light when you are standing under it? A:As with most down-light diffusors, you can see the bulb if you stand under it. However, if it is hanging over the center of a table, you are not likely to see into the diffusors. Steph…

How low is the drop from the ceiling to the bottom of the light? A:I called the vendor and this fixture comes with 3-12" stems which are screwed together for the length you can us one or all 3 depending on your needs. Terry

Is this light too large for a dining room with an 8 foot ceiling - room size is about 15' X 16'? A:No this would be adjustable for the height so you could have it shorter as well. Corey
