We turn it on before we go to bed and off in the a.m. It gives not only sufficient light for the landing but also enough light goes out into the room to see to turn on a lamp, The light in the daytime, gives a blueish light, but at night it appears as an expected color for light. The only minus would be the turn off switch is a little difficult to reach since it is set up into the light further than expected. I would grade this A-1
