I was worried that this lamp would be too big or too ornate for my modest one-level ranch but it is perfect. I have dark reddish brown wood on my front door and trim, mustard yellow (prettier than it sounds) walls, and a dark roof -- very earthy colors. I have two of these lights on the porch flanking the door and two more on the walls off the porch (e.g., between the front door and the garage door). The result is elegance without being ostentatious. The art deco design is lovely and different from all of the other standard ho-hum porch lights. The amber glass hides the bulb and provides a very warm light. I am thrilled.

The quality of the fixture is excellent as well.
