I found these fixtures to be more substantial in terms of weight and construction than many others. They are true to stainless steel in color and the metal even of the tubing is heavy gauge.
The metal tubing sections (two) threaded together properly and tightly. The only issue in this was that the threading of the plastic stake to the metal was more difficult that it shouldhave been for some reason.
There are two major problems with these lamps. The first is that the glass inserts are flimsy and break too easy for proper use. They are held in place by three set screws. Only one set screw is supposed to be moveable and has a thumbwheel on it. The others do not go all the way through and are set in place at the factory. In these type of installations, hand-tightening is usually all that is necessary. However, it is not easy to reach the thumbwheel, since it is behind the large diameter diffuser ring. The set screws scratch the frosted glass and can crack it if tightened too much. I believe that they might even crack given temperature changes caused by turning the light on during a cool night. We will see.
Also, the non-adjustable set screws are not glued in place and so fall out during transport. Of the five fixtures I ordered, two had to be returned for the problems mentioned above.
I have not placed these lights as yet. The lamps that are supplied are 18 w low voltage type. I cannot comment on the effective light given the design.
This is a very contemporary design that fits our home. As with most lighting products it is somewhat flimsy but appears to work. The adjustable height is a definite plus.
