We wanted a 9" lantern for one regular bulb rather than 3 candle bulbs so we could use a 9 watt fluorescent bulb rather than 3 25 watt incandescent bulb which use 8 times the electricity and keep burning out. Retail stores only have 3 candle bulb ones at double the price. Lighting Universe has the best lanterns at the best price

We bought this light and the matching large sconces. A great inexpensive update for our 10 year old brick home. The old ones were dingy formerly bright yellow brass. The bronze color complements the brick so well and looks more up to date. We will be back this winter to update our interior lighting.

After looking around for a lantern fixture for a new lamp post installation, I selected this one which is a very close match for three others near my front & garage doors. Very well made and much less expensive than most others I found of a similar style. Only issue I had was that one of the glass panes had a very small (1/4") chip out of the top edge, but it was under the frame and could not be seen so it was not a problem. The missing glass chip was nowhere inside the packaging so that tells me it left the factory that way and wasn't damaged in shipment. Installed in minutes and looks great. Recommended.

Ordered the post and lantern, and set the post directly in our hard desert soil -- it is very solid. Was surprised that the glass in the lantern is beveled, nicer than expected. I added an on/off switch in addition to the light-activated switch so we could turn it off if it bothered the neighbors, but they liked it so much they are now leaving some shutters open so they can see it over our fence. You may have to experiment with different bulbs to get the right amount of light -- I couldn't find a weatherproof dimmer switch to put on it.
