great lamp, but...

Love the lamp itself - fantastic quality and craftsmanship, and the subtle colors make it work in a number of different color environments. Shade, while interesting, overpowers the lamp, so replacing the shade is almost a necessity.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
