I ordered two of these for my wife for Xmas. She'd been talking about needing lamps next to our sectional. They turned out great. Heavy base keeps them from tipping. Dark shade keeps the light generally in a downward direction. Only complaint is the harp won't let you install a CFL bulb. It's too narrow at the base for too long.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The brushed steele finish does not look like the picture. there were no instructions on how to assemble the lamp, but I figured it out.
