This is a very nice fan, heavy at 35 or so pounds and instructions say it may require additional support. The remote is a bit funky in that I am having a hard time getting used to the light buttons, if I hit the button to get the desired brightness, I may have to hit the button 6x. The lighting is not really sufficient to light a room (its more like mood lighting) so expect to use another form of main lighting). It's in our bedroom, so the strength of the light isnt a problem to us. Overall it is beautiful and quiet and we are pleased.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The fan is a lovely addition to our new porch. The fan is quiet and easy to use. The remote is a bit slow to respond however. Overall a good purchase.
