We needed to light up our piano in our dimly lit living room - this lamp is great atop our vertical. The only drawback is that the finish is not as dark as I'd hoped. It's more of an antique brass than an oil-rubbed bronze, which would have been our preference. Otherwise, we love it. AND DON"T FORGET TO BUY LIGHTBULBS!
