The lamp works, and looks nice, however, some parts are 'dirt' cheap. I say this because I removed the bottom to find out what was making a rattling sound when I moved the lamp, and found little pebbles in the bottom. After looking at the plastic container used as ballast to weigh it down, I found it is a hollow container filled with small rocks and dirt. A little crack allowed some debris to leak out. I guess lead is too expensive to use for weighting it down, so I have some (Chineese?) dirt.
It makes me picture little kids being paid a few cents an hour to fill these plastic vessels...
