The one surprise for me was that the mobility of the arm is exactly as pictured - I thought it might bend to a 90 degree angle or even farther. Were I to know had such a limited range, I may have hesitated but then I might've missed out on getting such a striking light.

I've added a dimmer so I may use it for reading or mood lighting.

Having sold furniture at high-end stores, I was very pleased with the quality and finish for the price. It holds it's own against lamps I own that retail for 3x the price.

This looks so much more expensive than I excepted. The quality of the details and the finish are great! It looks like it was made in Italy, not China. I liked it so much I ordered a second one for another room.

When I bought this for my den I figured the pic looked nice, and it would be a decent reading lamp for a low price. Well I was really surprised to find that the thing looks like it might have been made in Italy rather than China (which is where I assume it's made). The parts look and feel precise. The finish is excellent. And it FEELS heavy too. Everything about this lamp is great. I am ordering a second one for my bedroom.
If anyone asks I'm going to tell them I splurged and spent $400 on this thing.
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
