I bought a pair of these, as well as a pair of each of the other two sizes which are larger than this version. The styling of these lights is very pretty and graceful, with curvaceous simplicity. I did not want the carriage/castle look that seems to be available in hundreds of variations for exterior locations, or the streamline moderne look that is the other popular style for outdoor lighting.My three new pairs will be at three different doorways on the same house, in decreasing size from front to back.

This item has an attractive shape, covering the PAR style light bulb. I did not want the exposed bulb style that is more common and I did not want the automatic motion sensor type either. I want to turn on with a wall switch. Of note I could not find a single light fixture from Sea Gull, nor a double light fixture from Maxim, So to light up the exterior of my new house I have five Sea Gull doubles and three Maxim singles, and they look very similar. It is the wraparound lens cover that is not what I expected. I thought it would be a hard shiny white glass-like acrylic material, and it is rather flimsy flexible material. I will not use it in the location originally planned for it, because I wanted a sharper sleeker light fixture there. I have many other Sea Gull fixtures, so the name brand was an attraction in my purchase decision. The wait was more than 5 months.

My specification was to find a fixture with a twin 48" T8 linear fluorescent bulb and a smooth rounded cover, and it had to be narrow to fit in the space intended. I mounted it horizontally on the the ceiling in a stepped up section that is vertical before it goes into a vaulted ceiling area. This is in the kitchenette area of a cabana. The light provided is exactly what was envisioned beforehand, a soft disseminated glow. There are plenty of other types of lighting in this cabana, so this is background effect.

This latest purchase is the two light bulb version which I got because I already have two examples of the single light bulb version. What I like is the absence of the ugly little screws that usually hold on the glass dome/globe part that is around the rim of the dome/globe.. Also I like the absence of the center of the dome hole for the bolt and fancy decorative nut that holds the glass dome up.

I installed four of these in the garage of my new house, and am very happy with the illumination provided. This is in comparison with my previous home where I installed four twin tube 48 inch fluorescent light fixtures, in the garage. It is extremely inconvenient to change fluorescent tubes on a high ceiling, and those tubes do not last nearly as long as flood/spot light bulbs. Another factor in favor of the change in lighting is radio interference, which is important if you like to listen to the radio when you are working in the garage. I also installed five pairs of these on the exterior of my new house, but there was a problem because the electrical junction boxes are surface mounted with external conduit system. The mounting plate of these lights will not fit on those boxes, so my electrician found a replacement mounting plate that is flat and fits.
