This task light cost twice as much as a similar one found in Staples. However, I was not offered a choice of colors in Staples (only black) and the wattage rating is slightly higher for the Lite Source model being 100 watts instead of the 75 watts found in the less expensive Staples model. Otherwise, the products are very similar in design and functionality. I would not pay $25.00 again plus shipping for a lamp that I can purchase locally for $12.00.

I chose this light fixture for a media room with deep chocolate brown walls. I wanted a fun, modern fixture. While it is that it is rather cheap looking when the lights are not on. The metal is more of a copper looking metal which appears really cheap, as opposed to a crisp stainless steel which I expected. When the light is on it looks great and these subtle flaws are missed. The glass has a smoky appearance and you can dim the light behind (if placed on a dimmer) to give it a misty affect. The hardware behind is mounted onto a white plate which can be seen if you mount the fixture to high and look up. Ok in a media room for limited usage and dark walls but wouldnt recommend for a prominent place in the house.

It's nice that it comes with a bulb. Be aware that the on/off switch is a rocker-switch on the cord itself. It has retro style with retro (good)quality. It was also cheaper here than from other sellers online.

While the product looks like a suitable substitute for more expensive pendant lamps, you will find this is a typical case of getting what you pay for.
The glass shades have three holes for attachment by screws to the hanging light holder. The holes in these shades are hand drilled, and of the three I just ordered two have one hole each that is not in line with the others on the shade, resulting the the shade not hanging level.
The ceiling fixture does not have any provision for a sloping ceiling. If you hang these lamps on a non-flat ceiling, the cord to the pendant then comes out of the fixture at an odd angle, and looks unattractive.
The cord itself only comes in black, so if you need any other color (white, for example) to compliment you room, you will have to buy it somewhere else and replace it on your own.

Easy shopping experience. We tried a variety of cheaper options from other stores but these bedside lights are the best and worth the extra money. The dimmer switches work well and provide great low light as well as stronger light for reading. Only one small issue is that they are not cool to touch, and presumably that is due to the high wattage of the lights - So they do heat up and so you need to use the small leaver to tilt the head, rather than touching it.

The only disadvantage is the new wattage checking device connected to the cord...prevents putting a really bright bulb into the lamp. Older versions didn't have this feature and accommodated bulbs with higher wattage.

I really like how this lamp looks. It's modern looking, well made, and tall which was one of my specific needs in a lamp. You can adjust the dome quite a bit in either direction which helps with reading or tasks. Super easy to put together, I did it in minutes. I highly recommend this lamp.

I purchased this lamp in antique bronze which has the muted gold look I was after (I didn't want a shiny gold). Assembly was easy and the lamp worked immediately. The included bulb burned out rather fast (2 weeks perhaps) but the replacement bulb I put in is doing fine. Changing the bulb is a bit of a hassle because the heat guard can be difficult to reattach after replacing the bulb. Not a deal breaker in any way, just not the best designed feature.

I have placed the lamps in a master bedroom of my house that contain the same color scheme. The lamps are bigger than expected and overpower a lot of the near by decorations. I'm considering reorganizing the room to make the lamps less of a focal point and bring attention back to the room as a whole. I enjoy the modern look of the lamps, but feel the size is somewhat large and draw attention from other aspects of the room.

We are really pleased with this lamp -- we have two. The only small complaint I have is that the seam in the lampshade is very prominent, so I have to keep it to the wall. Gives off great light for reading and nice ambient light on the lowest setting using a three way bulb.

This has been a very nice fixture for us. The assembly and installation was relatively straight forward. The fit and manufacture of the fixture appear to be very good. We've placed it in our dining room, which is open to a number of other rooms. Because of the openness, some fixtures would have trouble putting out enough light and not be diffused into other areas, but this fixture puts out a good amount of light such that this is not a problem.

I was so excited when I found this lamp online!

I was looking for a purple desk lamp for my new office and I was having a really hard time finding one....and then...there it was! It was just what I wanted.

I was having such hard time finding purple that I was ready to settle for red. When I found this one in red, I realized that it came in many more colors INCLUDING purple. Eureka!

Needless to say, I was happy as a clam and I couldn't wait to get it.

When it finally arrived, I was elated. It really was exactly what I wanted and the price was great too. Just perfect! Great lamp!!

Its a nice looking light for a good price. How the glass mounts is kinda scary, it sits loosely on a pair of posts with no set screw to hold it in place. There is also a large seam in the 2 piece wall mounting plate. Quality of light is very nice, with a thick well frosted piece of glass.

Despite the pun, this lamp is "light" on the wallet. I searched store and the Internet and got the best price (and free shipping) at Lighting Universe. For this quality lamp, you can't do better. It was super quick and easy to put together and it comes with a lamp shade despite the small size of the box. [Be careful purchasing lamps as many times the shade isn't part of the package.] This lamp has beautiful wood, a nice quality linen shade with fringe, and a three way bulb for increasing light intensity. Despite its light weight, its broad base makes it steady and unlikely to fall over. This lamp looks good in any decor. I highly recommend it!

This is a flimsy light fixture that isn't very bright. the frosted glass sconce is actually a 2 piece deal that only has a little 'V' shaped metal thing to frame each side. the glass jiggles and doesn't stay straight inside the frame. it's only rated for 40 watts each - which would give you 120 watts of light, but the frosted glass is really opaque and that cuts the light alot. the square base that hides the socket connection rotates independently from the long horizontal bar so if you vibrate the wall by closing a door hard or have dancing neighbors the light goes askew. this is one of those: You Get What You Pay For. :(

The lamp is exactly what I was looking for. It lights up the dark corner as I had hoped and takes up very little space. The gunmetal color is exactly what I was looking for as well. The only issue is that the shipping packaging was inadequate and resulted in a four inch crease in the base of the lamp.

The bulb holder thing swings like a pendulum, so be careful when you unpack and install it. I cracked the shade when I unpacked it. A quick call to customer service and a new shade was on it's way at no cost (that I'm aware of, as it hasn't arrived yet). I will keep it well wrapped during installation. Otherwise, it seems very sturdy and has a classy, contemporary feel.

We unsuccessfully searched numerous lighting stores in our area to find a torchiere light with a 300 watt halogen bulb to replace an old light. The one I ordered over the internet from Lighting Universe fit the bill perfectly. It arrived extremely well-packed, assembled easily, was well-priced and works extremely well. We are very happy with our purchase.

I purchased this light fixture to compliment my Peroni Full Sized Pendant by Demajo Murano of Italy. I believe this fixture to be the compliment to the Peroni, as I seem to recall Damajo's products as being distributed in the US by the manufacturer Lite Source (see www.demajomurano.com). But I am not certain. But if so, order through Lighting Universe as you won't find it cheaper anywhere else and they don't sell direct. Anyway, I like this mini pendant, and I think you get a lot of bang for your buck. To address some of the concerns indicated by the previous post: the cord is black, but then most modern kitchens are going back to black appliances again (as is customary every few years as trends change to move away from white and then back to it a few years later). The cord they give you is like 20+ feet (whoa!), but it is adjustable and can be cut. The holes in the fixture I got were evenly drilled, but then again I asked them to check this before shipping. The quality of the shade is excellent, as the glass is blown in solid layers as opposed to just being sandblasted or coated with some cheap etching glaze. This particular pendant is not meant to hang on a slanted ceiling, as one would guess by the type of mount provided (c'mon for $40 get real). The service I got from Lighting Universe was prompt, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again in the future. If I could change one thing about this light: just for decorative purposes and to compliment other pendants by the same manufacturer, it would have been nice if they would have also run a suspension cable alongside the black cord, just for an added contemporary bit of flair, even if they had to jack up the price a few extra bills. All in all, I think it's a good product! Good luck!

This lamp is absolutely gorgeous! A modern look that works with both fabric and leather furniture. This lamp would fit any home decore except if you have antique style furniture.

I bought 2 for my living room, and they match perfectly with my black leather sofa, love seat and chair. I put in energy saver bulbs that give off 60 watts of bright white light while using only 9 watts each and it's just amazing!!! Very easy to put together. All you need is a small screwdriver (for the base) which comes with the lamp anyway! Each lamp took me literally 5 minutes to set up.

The only thing that was a little inconvenient was that the switch for the lamp is not anywhere ON the lamp, but rather attached to the power cord. So you kinda have to reach down to turn it on, or in my case I worked the cord in a way to have the switch sit at the corners of the end tables in front of each lamp. Still it looks great and works great!!

The lamp is perfect. Don't be scared it shows black on black as when the light is on the shade actually shows as dark brownish and the dots appear as a caramel color. Perfect compliment for my caramel wall color and the shade is quite slim. Very heavy and great quality.

We wanted contemporary fixtures that would still appeal to our 6 year old son, we installed this in his study nook and the matching semi-flush mount as his main light. He loves them because it looks like the glass is held in place by little silver claws which works great with all his dinosaur stuff. :-) I think these would look lovely anywhere though, very classy affordable and elegant fixtures.

This lamp is very cheaply made, super light weight (I don't even believe the 3.8lbs is accurate), and most likely will arrive with a damaged lampshade. It also features a cheap version of a rocker switch, a wheel that can be difficult to operate. I remedied this buy putting them on dimmers, another $8 per lamp invested but well worth it for ease of use and lighting aesthetics.
The redeeming qualities are that for the price the "look" of the lamp is excellent! If you are low on cash but want a high end look this will work well. Delivery was extremely prompt, less than a week! I did have to request replacement shades for the lamps but this was not an issue due to the awesome customer service! They a) answered the phone with a live human being! b) Were extremely helpful and polite (quite rare for online shopping) c) And resolved the issue promptly and without any further inconveniences or costs to me.
The down side is that after receiving a second set of lampshades, one of them was still damaged. I think the damage must take place during assembly or packaging. I didn't bother trying for another replacement. Make sure to turn the light on to check for hairline fractures in the shade. When the lamp is off you cannot see the damage. Also, the construction of the shade frame cast a slight unattractive shadow as well. I'm pretty finicky but I think I can live with it.
Overall, I would recommend the lamp with the previously mentioned caveats and I would definitely shop this website again. The customer service rocks!

We found this fixture to be easy to install, good quality and a nice fit in our kitchen. The only fault was with the cathedral ceiling mount which fell apart prior to installation thus I had to rig my own mount. The fixture was a little smaller then we expected, however, we would purchase it again.

I am really happy with this fixture. The bathroom it is in does not have super high ceilings and this hangs only slightly, so it is a nice fit. The only surprise is that the frosted glass has a very slight greenish tint. Normally, this probably would go unnoticed, but because I have a vanity fixture over the sink that has white frosted glass, it is noticeable to me.

This is a great lamp. Stylish, substantial, and a great bronze tone that isn't too dark, but blends well with traditional or contemporary furnishings. Only one problem - the set screws that secure the base to the tube up to the bulb were too small for the predrilled holes, so they fell right into the base. I have had to take the lamp for a minor repair, to replace those set screws. Otherwise, it's great.

This lamp has everything I want -- modern lines with sculptural design, on/off button at the base on a reostat to brighten/dim as needed. It is substantial so it as not at risk of being knocked off. The swirled, curved milkglass shade with brushed stainless matches the modern fixtures in our new home. Would recommend.

I love this lamp and it looks really nice in my living room. It's not too bright with all 5 lights on which I like because it doesnt over power the room but gives you enough light. Very modern/contemporary look and goes great with my stainless steel light switches and surround sound system. Matches perfect. I was hoping for something nice for my room, but what the description of this product does not tell you is that the LEDs blink on and off very quickly. It is not pleasant to look at; it's more seizure-inducing than pretty.
Luckily I am knowledgable enough to modify the blinking logic, but I doubt the average customer has the skills to do that. I will need to replace a small circuit board in the base with something of my own design.

This lamp was not what I expected. The description indicates a satin steel orb inside of a unique donut shaped body with a walnut stain. It doesn't indicate that the walnut stained body is also metal. From that description, I was expecting wood, so I was disappointed. One of the lamps had a chipped body, which may have happened during shipping. However, the other lamp was poorly assembled and tilted to the right from its attachment to the base. This lamp should not have left the factory that way. I would expect more for $144.44 with a list price of $175.30. Overall, I feel this lamp is overpriced and wasn't happy with the quality.

It's a lovely lamp but definitely needs a decent sized room. I bought it for a small living room and it's very bold - some might say a bit overpowering. Also, it gives off more of a glow than light. I doubt you'd want to read by this lamp. I also wish it was a few inches taller. I'm 5'7" and always feel like I'm going to knock my forehead on it when I walk by. The colors in the shade are mostly greens and yellow/golds.

These lamps were exactly the natural, tropical look that I was hoping for. Narrow and tall. Just perfect. The only thing you should be aware of is that because the shades are wood, the light is very filtered. The light that comes through is a beautiful accent light but not at all for a primary light source.

After shopping several local stores and finding the selection of pendant lights dismal, we decided to go on-line. We stumbles across minipendants.com and found that the selection was enormous and the prices were very reasonable. In addition, the free shipping was a nice touch since we were unable to find anything locally that we liked and didn't cost $150 each.

Description didn't reveal the fact that the LED's on this sculpture only flash. While the LED's are very bright, the uncontrollable flashing makes this sculpture a distraction in a room instead of a mood-setter. If there were a control to make it appear as something other than an excited traffic light, I would have enjoyed this product.

We've had these in our kitchen for about one year. They were bought as a replacement for halogen puck lights installed by a previous owner. This product is much higher quality than what they replaced. Better instructions - especially for how to install in series - would have been nice. The only other comment - blue - these are way blue. It gives the kitchen a nice cool look, but not quite what we were anticipating.

Nice simple clean design. Can be "dressed up" if one chooses to add decorative fringe on the shade to match your decor. I purchased them for my bedroom and had a budget to stick to. My bed is black metal so they fit just fine. Although one of the lamp's bases is not quite centered (careless placement by laborer), that can be fixed if you don't mind taking off the bottom felt and recentering it.

We purchased two of these lights to hang over our island in the kitchen and they look great! They are simple so they fit any type of decor. We love them!

i was struck by the simplicity and space saving aspects of this very attractive minimalist unit. It works beautifully in my nyc studio apartment for an extra dose of ambient lighting. The lamp illuminates more than an old fashioned barber's pole that it is just a bit reminiscent of but Ingress Floor Lamp is more of an appropriate choice for mood lighting and additional illumination-prolly not the best choice for a main source for light despite its 50" height. The fact is that this rather utilitarian and decent- but not immaculately constructed-- light saber works to great effect in almost any indoor setting. It is a more rough hewn version of the more elegantly constructed Elise lamp by Pablo which costs 2 or 3x's the price of the Ingress but is immaculately constructed complete with dimmer and polycarbonate shade.

Whereas the slightly less upscale but still quite lovely Ingress does not have a dimmer and it sports a cheapo acrylic shade (but the acrylic shade works with the design aesthetic of the lamp, and looks nice nonetheless). Since i was able to purchase the floor lamp for around $120 i was very satisfied with the value of the purchase. However, IMHO at the regular price i'd just as soon buy the Pablo original which is similar but has a much more refined appearance and better quality construction. I do love the Ingress floor lamp dearly however on its own merit -so much so that i immediately purchased the table lamp version which is also a really strong pairing with my sorta 'contemporary urban nomad' decor. We absolutely love our ice-cube light! It is bright, beautiful and exactly what we wanted: modern. Because of the shape of the ice-cubes it casts a faint decorative shadow on the walls and ceiling, which adds to the beauty. Our only complaint is that the bracket supplied for the installation was not sturdy and was not big enough to install the light without a lot of effort. Because of this it would not mount completely flush to the ceiling and there is a 1/4" gap between the fixture and the ceiling. It may just be our ceiling outlet-box, but we have had other lights that installed without this problem. Overall, it was worth the effort and it looks fantastic!

This sconce is very attractive but the picture does not show how far from the wall it actually sits. From the front view it is really nice, from the side it leaves a lot to be desired as the attachment and light itself is totally exposed to view. We hired a professional to attach it as we were working on wiring and the glass cracked. oh well, live and learn...

This is a very servicable lamp. My only caviate is the fact that it is hard to change bulbs. My old lamp was the same design but it had little tabs that you could simple turn in order to get the protective glass off. This thing has a tricky two gap ring that really requires a lot of fooling around to get off and on in order to change the bulb.

These are very nice fixtures for the price. They are well proportioned, and visually substantial enough to stand alone. The construction of the fixtures themselves is not bad, especially considering the inexpensive price. And the light level they put out is perfect for background accent lighting.

We ordered this product in the blue glass to hang over a mini conference room table in our new offices. Many people have made positive comments about the light. It's nice when you can find some nice contemporary designed lighting at a reasonable price and this fixture is both.

This is a beautiful sconce. I bought four and one one delivered with a broken shade (the shade is glass). Lighting Universe took care of it by sending another sconce at no additional cost. Great lamp and great service.

Very nice appearance on these lights. Was worried that they might have a cheap appearance in person, and have seams in the corners of the metal or something, but not the case. Well designed appearance overall. Was also worried that they might not put out enough light (because of the metal mesh cover around the light), which was also not the case. Put out a surprising amount of light for such a small lamp. Also creates a neat pattern on the wall from the mesh surround as well, which was a bonus in my opinion.

My only complaint with this light was the large, obnoxious "WARNING: USE ONLY 25 WATT BULB" sticker that was placed at the very front of the lamp in plain view. But can be easily peeled off, and then use some kinda "gum" remover to get rid of the glue. But I don't blame the light company for this problem. It's the lawyers fault!!!

Good light overall. If you think it looks nice in the picture, you won't be dissapointed with it.

Bought 2 for my living roon. The lamp is pretty sturdy but one of the glass shades broke during shipment and I am still waiting for the replacement. The green shade is too dark, won't be light enough for Washington winters, and makes everything look too green.

I bought several of these lights to light voting booths, they will serve the function perfectly and add much needed light to otherwise dim areas making it easier for voters with visual limitations more easily see the ballots they are voting.

The light fixture is perfect for my decor. I like the colors (greens and blues) and the light it casts. The only drawback is the chain is too short for my ceiling. I cannot fine a 12 ft. antique bronze chain to match it, in any home goods store.
