This lamp from Sonneman, while a great looking one, is problematic in that the shades always sit crooked - we have purchased a number of these and evey single one has had issues.
At first, shades came in dented (poorly packaged).
Then they come in and we install and the shades will not sit perfectly straight - which, with a lamp of this design - must be!
Also rec'd dented diffuser on last order and another diffuser was totally missing from the box.
This causes problems at time of installation as one can imagine.
It would be great if they could figure out a way to make them mount level.

I have used this fixture in private homes and also in an architect's offices. It casts a soft light vertically and downward as well as horizontally. The clean lines work in contemporary as well as traditional rooms. It is the first fixture I consider for dining rooms...has a strong but not dominating presence. The shade color choices are fun, but the white shade casts most light.

I saw this light in a store and would have to special order it, which would take weeks. I bought it from lighting universe and had it hung in my home in 4 days, plus saved almost $150. It is the perfect complement to our decor.

one light is great the other cannot hold the lamp head in place. I have tried to tighten the clamp - no luck so I will have to send it back or take it apart to try to fix the droop

This fixture has an elegant design quality which truly tests the ability of the production process to execute it as conceived. Maybe most people won't even notice it, but the piece I received has a less-than-perfect alignment of all the vertical elements within the fixture. The slight misalignment is not due to a wall condition which could be remedied: its the fabrication of the elements that comprise the completed unit. Is the Sonneman QC on the Chinese manufacturer's production delivering the goods?

The light was shipped quickly and arrived within a week. It does look a little different from the picture - the outside circle is more opaque than the picture shows. It looks great over our dining room table. It doesn't give off a ton of light, which works great for our space, but may not work for everyone.

This fixture is just beautiful. The quality is excellent and with a dimmer switch, a wonderful choice for our dining room. Delivery was fast and we were treated with great courtesy by a knowledgeable staff. We looked at much more expensive fixtures before settling on this.

The lamp can be adjusted to fit any configuration to allow for optimum reading light and space consideration.
It goes with our traditional decor.
The light bulb with metal surround does get very hot in a short time frame.
Only other concern was putting it together. It was hard to use the allen wrench-especially when trying to do it alone- rest was easy. It was well packed and came with the light bulb.

I have a Bosendorfer 280. The Feather Double Floor Lamp looks awesome next to this piano. It does not detract from the look of the piano and it provides great light for reading without distracting light glare. I recommend this lamp highly.

The balance arms of the two lamps are delicately tapered to present a clean yet delicate touch to the lamp's functionality. They can be easily removed to place the arm exactly where it needs to be to produce maximum lighting effect. There are no unsightly cords hanging from the lamps, and the double beams are perfect as reading lamps for two people sitting in adjacent chairs. The switches are cleverly concealed, also adding to clean lines. The look compliments either a contemporary or a modern decor. It could just be the best lighting feature in our house.

the design was perfect. the hardware very good. The glass globe had too many blebs and bubbles. I am taking it up with Sonneman directly as it is a quality control issue and has nothing to do with lighting universe.

Excellent lamp. Horrible packaging for shipment. Box arrived totally destroyed. Been taped a number of times to hold it together. Need to be placed in a corrugated box before shipping. A fiber box just will not do.

I loved this sconce by the picture but was shocked to find a cord attached when I received it. The cord was not shown in the picture and even the hole where the cord is attached was not in the picture. It cannot be hardwired and I have to return the two sconces I ordered at a huge expense to me. Needless to say, I am very upset. Not only by the cost but by the delay to my project. I must now find new sconces and then have an electrician make a return trip to install them.

I love this pendant light. It sheds warm, sophisticated light, it is elegant and does not interrupt the view and yet adds so much elegance and substance to the room. The one thing I have a quibble with relates to assembly. Once installed, it is very difficult to screw the bottom glass on perfectly straight and given the translucent quality of the round trim, you can see any off balance alignments. So, unless you are super handy, get someone who has experience to help you install it.

The chandelier is great. It is unique, gives out a lot of light and fits in a modern/contemporary home. Be sure to attach the fixture so it is "square". Our first attempt set it in the ceiling in a diamond angle. Other than that the directions were easy to follow.

Good quality materials, good light, but keeping the angle of the arm in any desired position is not easy. You have to tighten a knob beyond what my hand strength can achieve. The lamp head slowly settles to a low position.

I bought one of these lamps and was so pleased with it I bought another one a few weeks later. It is made of very heavy materials (metal). The lamp can be adjusted at numerous points to put light where you want it. It has two brightness settings. I chose the brushed nickle finish, which looks great. The light is a bright halogen which does get very hot, but provides excellent illumination. I have tried one of those fluorescent Ott lights and found it to be too dim for me. I have noticed that if your reading chair is against the wall it may be difficult to aim the light due to the counter weight that sticks out in the opposite direction of the lamp.

The pin connector on the bulb is pure junk. You have to jiggle the bulb to get it to work, the small clips heat up, expand and the contact is lost. Have had a few of these all with the same problem. How can Sonneman stay in business???

Lamp looks good in photo, but when it arrived, I found a major limitation inherent in its design-the light will only rise up to 20 inches off the desk before the end of its boom arm hits the desk. Also requires more desk real estate b/c the boom arm requires at least a 10 inch diameter circle to swing freely about its axis. A better design might be to shorten the counterweighted end of the boom and just put a heavier counterweight to offset the shorter length. Given the above, I find the lamp to be on the expensive side.

Looked and looked for replacement bedside lamps. Stores, catalogs, online...whew. Did an online search and found this one after slogging through literally hundreds....called customer service with a few questions; very patient and helpful. Ordered and crossed my fingers. Assembled and put them in place. Love them! The only thing I could possibly complain about is that there was some confusion as to location of the switch. It's actually on the upper stem (above the swing arm) but at the bottom end of that upper stem with the bulb at the other end. It's not on the base nor on the cord. The other minor confusion states that the bulb is NOT included when actually it IS! Both of these "mistakes" were actually lucky for me...the switch placement allows for easy access from the bed and it's always nice to have the bulb included!

I just installed this fixture and a few other Sonneman pieces in a classy 50's Rambler Re-do. The quality is Sonneman-solid, the patina is perfect and the string shade are a great option for a little somthing different. This light fixture is well made and looks great when paired with its larger twin. My only small complaint is that the proportions of the metal and glass in the smaller fixture are not as well balanced as those of the larger fixture. As such, the glass cover of the smaller fixture looks somewhat bulbous.

This is an excellent quality fixture at a bargain basement price. The look is stunning and it casts a terrific light (make sure you put the diffusor over the bulb). This fixture is well made, it is very heavy (weighs substatially more than the Kichler 18" pendant I received in the same order). I have no reservations recommending this fixture.

However the live chat was very helpful to me on describing that the glass is kind of greenish that you see as it is tempered. Also there are no bulbs included even though web says it is.

Picture shows metal bar...it's a white cord with black small writing...UGLY! The plate under the light is PLASTIC...was told it was glass...and it screws in crooked. Shoddy craftmanship...certainly not worth the price. Could have found a light with better construction at Walmart or Home Depot!

The Lillet four-light chandelier looked great out of the box. But once it was installed, it was apparent that one or more of the arms were crooked. The straight, clean-line design of this piece requires precise attachment of the arms--even a degree or two of rotation is very noticeable once the chandelier is installed. And since the arms are welded to the hub, the customer cannot adjust them. I expected better construction for the price I paid.

Yes, these lights were a good buy for the money. These look real expensive and look custom. The only negative thing may be if you sit under the light too long when it is on high it gets very hot.
I installed a dimmer with these lights so I usally keep them on low if I am sitting at the bar.

I bought a couple of these pendants after searching long and hard for just the right look, color, length, and wattage. One bulb did not work when it arrived: though they did replace it immediately, upon notice, with out any questions, they were a slight bit difficult to install (I knew it was not going to be easy) and the cord stayed slightly crooked for a while but that has since fallen out (after a couple weeks and a few tugs). Over all I am very pleased with how they look and operate. They fit my lifestyle like a glove.

They are meant to be installed upside down from the picture shown, which makes them VERY asian. If they are installed as in the photo, they can pass for craftsman, but don't look as good. So, I'd recommend the shade on the bottom. They shade itself is very attractive and works fine with CF bulb as it hides and diffuses the entire light source.

We have been happy with the quality and value. The instructions and assenbly where the only thing we had a little trouble with. We hung the light in an acoustical ceiling and we had trouble getting it level, there was no way to make minor adjustments for leveling.
