The three "arms" are aesthetic not structural which somehow surprised me. The workmanship is excellent and the packaging is phenomenal. If this product fits your decor, it is a great choice.

richmond hill convertible light

We used this light to replace a recessed can in our hallway. It is compact enough to fit in a 9' ceiling height, but style wise fits with a large pendant light in our nearby, higher ceiling entry way. With a dimmer, we can dial this light back for general usage, but we can turn it up all the way for much better light for cleaning. So, it is both much more beautiful AND much more practical than the recessed light we replaced. We installed this semi-flush with a conversion kit so that no drywall or wiring changes/repairs were required - we were able to install this light right over our recessed can. We are quite pleased with the result!
