how was i supposed to know that it was a fan light?

Do you see a chain pull to turn this light on in the picture? I understood that "duo mount" meant that it could be installed flush mount or with the 2" drop shown in the picture. Instructions were for a ceiling fan light. We're making it work, but I wouldn't have bought a fan light if the description had been better.

What is the difference between a light kit duo mount and a semi-flush mount?
A:The Duo Kit will allow you to use this as a hanging pendant or a flushmount.
