The base on which the arm mounts is thin sheet metal that easily deforms with the weight of the arm or when adjusting the arm. The arm swivel bracket is not securely attached to the base so it won't stay properly aligned when adjusting the arm. You have to unscrew three thumb screws to make adjustments to the arm which is vrey time consuming and inconvenient. This would be good for leaving the light in one fixed postion most of the time; not good for quick adjustments like you need for a reading light.

This lamp looks very nice is does not look cheap but after having it up it does not seem to hold its own weight. The lamp part pulls it side to side when it should stay in place, also annoying to have to unscrew two areas to just move the reading lamp. Looks nice.
