This is a very beautiful sconce and is one of the few that is actually wired for fluorescent bulbs only, so it meets Title 24 standards in California.

I bought both because the photos are absolutely useless. Here's the real skinny: the "opal" is not opal it is a pure even white, with a solid white interior layer and a slightly opaque glass all fused together. The "alabaster" is not even remotely alabaster-like. It is, however, somewhat like opal without the color or fire. It is white with angled irregular striations throughout--very attractive. The shape is very pleasing. These lights are a fantastic value and very elegant. The white one did arrive with a 1/4" crack in the glass at the bottom front-very visible. They still get my highest recommendation.

I love the sconces. I've been doing a lot of shopping and they are the most beautiful light fixtures I found. Even higher priced ones weren't like them. Highly recommended!

Using a dimmer switch can be very romantic.-
