My electrical box sticks out from the wall just a tiny bit and I couldn't force it into the wall any further. My box is 4" round. The recessed area on the back of this light is 2-1/2". Consequently, the light sat on the edge of the electrical box and not flush against the wall. From the side, you could see the box edge and the gap it created and it did not look nice.

To mount this fixture I would have had to call an electrician to replace the box and I might have to replaster and repaint.

Lastly, the instructions are for a fixture with a backplate separate from the glass light. You'll have to figure out how to tighten the fixture using your hands inside the small space.

The fixture was beautiful. Like someone else said, I got a big pattern that looked like nougats rather than the smaller pattern shown in the photo. I regret that I had to return it.

First off, let me say that we regularly receive compliments on these sconces. We're very happy with them, and Lighting Universe did everything right - fast shipping, terrific price and apparently they make it easy to reach them if we had any concerns or issues, which we didn't.

That being said, be thoughtful if you're considering these for yourself. They are much more off-white in overall coloring than the website picture shows. Also, an alabaster pattern is going to be random by nature, but the picture shows a relatively small "unit" size for the patterning. Yet ours have significantly larger units, making the pattern more closely resemble how a candy nougat looks, not at all like the somewhat even pattern shown this picture.

Also, the two sconces we received were of the same size and overall coloring, but the swirl of patterns in each was decidedly unique. And larger units in the alabaster patterns highlights these differences, whereas the smaller units as shown in this picture would subdue them.

So if you love what the picture shows for the coloring and how the pattern appears, and you expect to receive two (or more) that will be relatively alike, be aware that you could be disappointed. Still, these are a great look, on or off, for many room styles; they install easily, and the price is great.

One other thing. At the time we ordered, a duplicate model was offered for a slightly higher price that could accept energy-efficient CFL bulbs. We opted to NOT buy that model because it has a non-standard socket for its CFL tube bulbs. While that's not awful, a quick web search shows that CFL tube bulbs with standard sockets are easily obtained, so we figured it's best to get those and still have the option to pick up an incandescent anywhere if we needed a replacement in a hurry.

Unique. I would recommend this sconce and Lighting Universe for someone wishing to purchase lighting products. I also used the on-line operator for questions.

I really like these sconces, however, the size of the marbling on the picture and the actual sconce is very different. The actual sconce has much larger marbling.
