The fixture is very beautiful: I first bought one, then bought 2 more.
HOWEVER, due to a small manufacturing defect (occurring with all three units) after the metal sconce plate is mounted tightly to the wall, you no longer have the space necessary to angle-in the rectangular glass piece without scraping it hard against the small retaining bar that supports it. The first attempt resulted in scratching the glass finish right on the front face: after that I learned to partially insert the glass and then (reaching behind the glass with difficulty)tighten the mounting to the wall. It's awkward, but can be done without damage. Don't let it discourage you from buying this lovely fixture, but keep this in mind when mounting it.

This stunning fixture is perfect for a classic home which doesn't want only 'authentic' period lighting, some of which can be authentic but also quite ugly. Our 1911 Folk Victorian Four Square is complemented by this light which, using traditional colors and textures, nonetheless feels updated and contemporary.

This sconce is beautiful in my modern/arts and crafts style basement. It has a craftsman feel, but is clean and modern. I love that the glass part of the sconce hangs from the upper bar. You have to be sure to install the glass part, and then the bulb, but it isn't a problem since you usually load a new bulb from the top once it is fully installed. The color of the glass is a bit more yellow/brown than it appears, but once it is turned on; it casts a beautiful soft glow. I am really happy with this sconce, and I would buy another one if I had another place to put it!
