So, it's Mother’s Day this Sunday and maybe you haven’t found your mom a present yet, but here's the good news – there’s still time for you to do something very special and memorable for your mom.
Here’s some more good news: These ideas will give your mom all the feels, because they take you beyond the cards, candy and flowers (which are also good and probably not too late to grab, by the way). Let’s have a look.
1. Mow the grass.
The timing for Mother’s Day couldn’t be better when it comes to mowing the grass. The “first big mow” of the season has likely already passed, but this could be your second bite at the green apple.
2. Pull the weeds.
Sure, we could lump all this stuff under landscaping, generally, but the idea is to take care of the grunt work so mom can enjoy the fun stuff, like planting, picnicking and winking over your shoulder at the neighbors because you’re awesome and their kid decided to go play golf on Mother's Day.
3. Write her a letter.
Oh boy – this is a big one. In the age of digital everything, a letter written on real paper that says how much you appreciate your mom is basically a homerun. It doesn’t even have to be that good.
4. Hang a porch swing.
It may be a bit above your paygrade, but keep this in mind – even if you try and fail, you still get to look great and she still technically gets the swing. She’ll just have to hang it herself with these easy instructions.
5. Cook her dinner.
Taking her out to eat is nice – especially if you can’t cook – but making her something from scratch is the kind of thing that puts your name in bright lights on Facebook.
6. Clean something.
It would be pretty sweet of you to clean the dishes after you cook her dinner, for example.
7. Dance with her to her favorite song.
Now that you have Spotify there’s no excuse for you left. Put on The Platters or some Patsy Cline and have a sock hop.
8. Dress up.
When she asks why you’re in fresh duds, tell her you wanted to do something nice for her and then get ready for hugs.
9. Tell her a great memory from your childhood.
You probably have lots of good memories you’ve never shared with your mom. Lay one on her and tell her she did an awesome job.
10. Say, “I love you.”
Happy Mother’s Day, moms. We love you.
