15 Easy Fitness Tips for 2015 (Part II)

Last time, we covered six great tips for how to get on the road to a ripped body. Okay, so maybe they’re baby steps, but if you add them to the next seven in Part II of our series, you’ll see how the little things can make a big difference.</br></br>Let’s continue:</br></br><strong>7. Get up, move around and stretch.</strong></br></br>This goes for everyone, and not just the folks in Cube City. Our daily routines subject us to patterned muscle movements that limit our flexibility and mobility over time. Disrupt habitual muscle movement and get the blood flowing with easy stretches and a walk to the water cooler.</br></br><strong>8. Get a massage.</strong></br></br>Hey, now we’re talkin’! This one’s super easy, right? And, it’s really good for you. A great massage can improve blood flow, release toxins and give you more energy.</br></br><strong>9. Avoid caffeine before bed.</strong></br></br>Question: What’s better than a root-beer float while watching a late-night movie? Answer: Good sleep! So, try and enjoy your float a little earlier in the evening, or use caffeine-free root beer.</br></br><strong>10. Beware the Netflix.</strong></br></br>Netflix is awesome. We all know that. But, binge-watching TV is not very awesome for your body. If you must, try and make yourself a deal: 10 sit-ups and 10 pushups before you start a new episode.</br></br><strong>11. Chew gum.</strong></br></br>New research shows that chewing gum while you’re out and about can distract you from putting other, less healthy things in your mouth. Go figure.</br></br><strong>12. Do a little light cleaning.</strong></br></br>Not only is cleaning a good way to get in some stretching and exercise, the newly cleaned space will motivate you by giving you more energy. You space will feel new, which can inspire the new you.</br></br><strong>13. Get some fresh air.</strong></br></br>Being indoors for too long can stifle energy and motivation. Make it a point to get as much fresh air as you can. It will mean you’re walking, breathing deeply and hopefully even getting a little sun, which is especially important during the dark winter months.</br></br><strong>14. Wash your hands often.</strong></br></br>You can’t get fit if you feel like spit and there are always lots of nasty bugs around when New Year’s Eve arrives. Protect yourself by frequently washing your hands.</br></br><strong>15. Try using a little less sugar.</strong></br></br>Most people on the planet drink coffee, tea or both, and a good percentage of them love to have it loaded up with sugar. The thing is, there’s a magical point of sweetness that will still satisfy you that is far below your usual four heaping tablespoons. Try exploring that lower boundary and you might be surprised.</br></br>Good luck with all of your New Year's resolutions, and have a great 2015!
