Ugh. The laundry room – it’s just an absolutely horrible place to hang out, unless towels are drying, in which case it’s heaven for about 45 minutes. But, maybe there are a few ways we can make (more) heavenly all the time.
The laundry room is typically a disrespected plot of square footage because it’s where the dirty clothes end up. Never bother mentioning it’s also where clean clothes emerge; nobody cares when you do nice things, Laundry Room!
But, maybe you can change our minds. Here’s how:
Add Some Ventilation
Oh Laundry Room, why do you always have to be so stuffy? You can either blame it on the dryer, or you can get a fan; preferably a ceiling fan, especially if you have no windows (or full-on French doors).
Show Me My Programs
There’s only one room in any house that isn’t improved by having a TV mounted on the wall, and that’s the … actually, never mind. Every room is better with TV, unless there’s a library in the house.
But, how many people have libraries in their homes these days? Practically no … wait a minute!
Store More Reading Material
Just a few extra shelves, Laundry Room, and you’ll be the next Library of Congress. Well, maybe not, but you’ll be a lot less boring.
Not enough room for bookshelves, you say? Okay! Maybe a few wall-mounted magazine racks, then. There’s always room for a magazine rack. But, once there are magazines, there needs to be a place to sit and read them …
Get Some Comfy Seating
This might be the best, easiest way to make laundry-room lounging more enjoyable, and it’s a great opportunity for DIY fun.
And, keep in mind that portable seating may work as well – a couple fancy folding chairs and a beverage cart and you’re ready for a folding party!
