5 Places to Never Hide a Safe

It’s true that they make safes that are literally too heavy to steal, and it's awesome if you have the money and space to get one, but if you have a smaller safe it needs a good hiding spot as an added layer of protection.</br></br>Otherwise, someone could just walk off with it and pry it open at their leisure.</br></br>We all know where people hide safes in the movies: <em>Look behind the painting!</em> But, where do people hide their safes in real life, and where shouldn’t they hide them?</br></br><strong>1. Never hide your safe … in the closet!</strong></br></br>Your closet is a bad place to <a title="Safes" href="https://www.atgstores.com/hardware/security-hardware/safes/" target="_blank">hide a safe</a>. Actually, your closet is a bad place to hide anything. That’s where the burglar always looks first.</br></br>And, your bedroom closet is the worst. If you absolutely must hide your safe in a closet (family tradition, maybe?), pick any closet but the bedroom closet.</br></br><strong>2. Never hide your safe … in the garage!</strong></br></br>You don’t want to make it too easy for them, do you? Hiding your safe in the garage is an invitation to get your safe stolen without you even knowing it's gone.</br></br><strong>3. Never hide your safe … in your office desk!</strong></br></br>This is a tempting spot for a lot of reasons. You have quick access while you’re doing business, it’s in your personal zone and you’re always working anyway, so why not, right?</br></br>Because Benny the Burgle Meister knows to look there.</br></br><strong>4. Never hide your safe … in your kid’s room!</strong></br></br>That is, unless you’re angling for this year’s Most Dubious Parent Award. And finally, last but not least …</br></br><strong>5. Never hide your safe … under your bed!</strong></br></br>The logic is definitely solid on this one: You’re in the bed, the safe is under the bed and so you are the first line of defense for said safe.</br></br>The problem, though, is that you never really want to be between your safe and a thief. That’s the safe’s job. So, hide your safe somewhere clever and let it get to work!
