All About Living Room Tables

Living room tables are valuable additions that can add a finishing design element as well as provide a room with both storage and surface space. These come in a wide variety of sizes and styles that can complement any design – so the first step in buying living room tables is to decide what type of tables you need:

Types of Tables

Brass and wood end table

End tables are designed to sit next to a sofa, chair, or bed, providing space to place a coffee cup, magazine or other items that should be within easy reach. These tables are smaller in size than most tables and range in height to complement seating of different heights. The top an end table should sit at approximately the same height as the arms of the sofa or chair that it is next to so that anyone seated there can easily set things down.

White Finish Coffee Table

Coffee tables typically sit in front of a sofa or in the center of a seating group to offer a space to hold décor, store remotes, or set a cup of coffee. These come in a range of shapes and styles, but most are round, oval or rectangular. Regardless of what shape you decide on, any coffee table should be approximately the same height as the top of the seat cushion of whatever seating it complements. This size ensures that they are entirely out of the way in terms of sight lines, while still remaining the right height to set things on while sitting around the coffee table.

White Finish Sofa Table

Sofa tables are long and wide tables that are intended to be placed up against the back of a sofa. These are generally taller than end tables or coffee tables and should come up to about the same height as the back of the sofa they are complementing. Alternately, sofa tables can also serve as narrow buffets when placed against a wall instead

Mid Century Nesting Tables

Nesting tables are table sets that include anywhere from two to four tables that fit together so they can be stored in the floor space of only one table. These are great options for smaller spaces or for people who frequently entertain, as they can be easily rearranged to provide extra table space or be neatly tucked away as needed.

When selecting the right nesting tables for your space, you may want to consider the number of tables in a set and the size of the largest table, as these will determine the space they need and the utility they provide.

Blue Painted Tray Table

Tray tables are folding tables that feature a tray as their tabletop. The tray is often removable, and is intended to make it simple to take a meal or just a bit of extra workspace to any area of your home.

Other Considerations

A couple other elements to think about when shopping for tables for the living room:

• Living room tables come both individually and in coordinating sets. While all of your accent tables don’t have to match, a set can be a great way to coordinate the look of your room while saving the time and effort of hunting down complementary styles.

• Tables are available with a range of different types of storage space, including shelves, drawers, and internal storage, so review the options to select the best living room tables for your needs!
