How to Style: Gold, Copper & Brass Tones (Part II)

There’s no guilt in going with the gilt, and we intend to prove it as we continue to explore how to add more golds, copper, brass and bronze tones into our décor in Part II of our series.

Yesterday, we provided some ideas on how to mix these colors into your space using art frames, textiles and accents, and today we’ll look at three more ways you can go for the gold.

Hardware

Cabinet knobs and pulls, door handles and window hardware are easy marks for a glimmer of gold. Both affordable and subtle, many hardware pieces come in these trendy tones.

You’ll find a lot of variety between the finish, color and material when it comes to hardware. Some pieces are plated, while others are painted or stained. To make it easy, our Sample Knobs & Pulls Credit Program lets you try different styles at little to no cost.

Light

We’re not talking about the fixtures here, but the actual light you use in your space. You can warm the color into rich amber tones using a couple tricks: Try swapping out that soft-white bulb for something a little more vintage with exposed filaments, or find a shade that will filter more gold tones into your space.

Or, perhaps try a combination if your fixture hangs from above.

Wood Tones / Stains

We don’t often think of wood as having a metallic tone, but some woods and wood stains fall well within the spectrum of these trendy colors, and help give interior décor an earthy feel that’s very popular right now.

This might mean an opportunity to try a little DIY wood staining, which when combined with some of the gold-toned upholstery or leather discussed yesterday can make for a show-stopping statement piece.

There are lots of reasons why these tones are trending, but a big one is versatility. Try a little gold, copper, brass or bronze in your interior design for glitzy glam, a warm, rich feel or something in the middle.
